#trailtalkthursday 10.12.23 – Upstate Snow
Chance of snow Days 1-7: 0 Percent
Chance of snow Days 8-14: 25 Percent
Best chances of snow Days 8-14: North of the Thruway.
Good morning! Well today looks a lot like a carbon copy of a few days ago. Over the next seven days it will be cool but with temperatures in the 40s and 50s all across Upstate NY, even in the Adirondacks, snow will not be found there (unless you are on top of Whiteface or the High Peaks).
The best chance of precipitation is this weekend. And that threat for precipitation has gone down significantly in the last two days. Beginning of this week it looked like this weekend would be an all out washout.
Now the Nor’easter that was threatening to hit Upstate NY will hit farther to the east over New England and into Atlantic Canada. That’s gong to leave Upstate NY in a much better position to deal with the weather this weekend and into next week.
During next week with the trough and big storms off to the east over New England and Atlantic Canada, it will be a continuation of mostly cloudy to partly sunny skies. Temperatures will for the most part will be in the 50s with a few days next week breaking 60 in the lower elevations. This is great weather for peak foliage across most of Upstate NY and that is exactly what will be happening. Next week for many of us will be peak week!
Looking ahead to the last 10 days of October and into the beginning of November, trends are looking much better for first snowfalls across much of the region. With above normal temperatures being almost zero, near to below normal temperatures looking very likely, we cross the eclipse mark into possible snow. I am sorry we are looking at beyond normal dates for first snowflakes (Old Forge is 10/14, Utica is 10/21, Syracuse is 10/25, and Albany is 10/31 for its first flakes), but it will more than likely be days after normal instead of weeks after normal.
At least that is how things are shaping up right now.
I also wanted to give you guys a shout out for the many things we have available at Upstate Snow. Since right now just before the season would be a great time for it.
