Chance of riding through 1/2/24 – What? Are you kidding??? 🙂
Chance of riding 1/3/24 – 1/9/24 – Only in very limited areas… and IF they get snow. A lot of snow.
Why do we have to be here? This is insane! Even in 2015 going into 2016, a month with most days in the 50s and 60s, so far above normal it was not even funny, even then by this point in the year we were finally starting to cool down and finally starting to get some minor snowfalls around New Year’s 2016. That is not the case here.
Even up in Old Forge, NY, the Heart of the Western Adirondacks, the heart of the Snowmobile Season in New York, outside of Tug Hill, there is NOTHING. Not even a drop. It’s 8 degrees above freezing and raining. At over 1700′. Unless you are high up in the Moose River Plains, or the High Country of the Adirondacks (and we are talking WITH elevation), there is just NOTHING to talk about across the state of New York. NOTHING.
Once January 2nd hits next week and all trails officially open… there will be nothing heard from here in New York. That’s the way most of the next 7 days is looking. I’m sorry back just before Christmas when the -14 air was looking to hit by New Year’s Weekend, it will be colder air that what we have seen, but -14 = 30 at best during the day. We will see temps in the mid to upper 30’s during New Year’s Weekend into next week. So even that long range forecast got screwed up.
There is some possible snowfall between January 3-9. Some. Don’t get your hopes up over it. Seriously. Until the snow actually falls and we can actually get miles on the sleds… it’s nothing but tears for me here. I’m sorry guys and gals. I wish I had better news for you now. But you will know when I will…
