Accumulating snows on tap especially for areas N of the Thruway overnight tonight and into Tuesday. Will mix with then change to rain in the valleys and especially S of the Thruway.
This is a very short and to the point blog as Influenza hit my family on Valentine’s Day… and quite simply… life has been extremely difficult these last 3-4 days. We are coming out of it now and will update as we can in the coming days. That 201 miler from now a week and a half ago.. I will tell you about sometime just because it’s a good story… but not today.
First time in a few weeks a storm will track NW of Upstate, but here you go. It’s not going to be as bad of a hurt as it could be.
Expect several inches of snow N of the Thruway. Lower elevations and S of the Thruway will probably only get a few slushy inches, if that, and rain and milder temps may wash away. But N of the Thruway will fare best especially with fresh snow hitting tomorrow morning…
Cold air comes in back of the storm Wednesday. Some minor lake effect but nothing major. After that Thursday through next Sunday, the rest of the long week off for kids and many families, will be sunny, cold and dry for most of Upstate.
We’ll have to see how much gets hurt and where after this storm. Give clubs a chance Wednesday to sort out conditions and put things back together on the trails.
Bottom line – Areas that are borderline and thin on snow, lower elevations and along/S of the Thruway may be put out of play after tomorrow.
The Tug Hill, Adirondacks, higher elevations S of the Thruway, should fare OK. The “playground” may get smaller than it was this weekend, but there will still be plenty of riding opportunities out there for kids, families and riders of all ages to enjoy.
We’ll update more in the Guide to Your Ride podcast with Chris Rinck from STH on Wednesday night or Thursday.
Be good, ride safe, ride right, STAY HEALTHY!!!
