It gets earlier and earlier every year! I figured I’d throw my two cents in for the good of the order. The OFFICIAL Upstate Snow 2021-22 Winter Weather Outlook. Based on the very latest and most accurate scientific data available to man today!
Trust me on this one! In a scientific study conducted by a well respected group (me), the above map is actually a pretty darn good representation of what most people think about the winter. Go Bills! I think that’s an accurate forecast for most west of I-81. From the Thruway corridor south, most people do complain about the winter and just bear it. In the pink zone (Tug Hill and Adirondacks) there always never seems to be enough snow or cold. Even when we do get it, I hear the complaints. Have for almost a decade now LOL!
OK, now that you’ve had a good laugh and that I’ve got your attention, WAKE UP! It’s SEPTEMBER! Days are getting shorter, leaves will start changing en masse in just a few weeks in the Adirondacks and Tug Hill, October for the rest of Upstate. We are now getting into trail work season, get your sled ready for the season, get your sleds registered, join the clubs where you ride and get into a “cooler” state of mind.
REAL UPDATES ON THE WEATHER AND THIS SITE:
- If you’ve followed me for any length of time you know I don’t like winter weather outlooks. Some of them I’ve nailed. Some of them have nailed me. It’s an interesting Olympic sport. If you plan a big ride weekend and there’s a thaw then, it’s a bad winter to you. If you are used to only riding two weeks a year and can ride 4-6, it’s a good winter to you. Point is, it’s all relative to many of us. But regardless, as always, first look is November 1, first call is November 15, final call is December 1, or thereabouts. As November goes, so goes the winter (usually), what are the lake temps and oscillations and El Ninos and La Ninas and La Nadas and the margaritas doing before we take a look at the models (NOT in Sports Illustrated), to give you a reasonable guess on the winter OVERALL. But as you also know, the greatest value of this site is me giving you the honest calls and the “get out there now” if I see bad weather (for snowmobiling) coming during the winter, that thaw you’ll never be able to find in a seasonal outlook.
- The goal this season for The Morning Blog is a post every day throughout the season, particularly from any snow event in October/November, then daily once we get to Thanksgiving week, until riding season is done in late March or early April. That’s the goal. We’ll see what life brings. And if God laughs.
- TRAIL TALK PODCAST IS BACK! Season three will start NEXT WEEK! My first guest will be John Bates from the Ohio Ridge Riders, talking club stuff and of course SNOW BASH. The second podcast will be all about SNOW BASH. The guests are lined up with many favorites returning and a few newbies in there. Trying to get some bigger names in here too! Trail Talk runs through the holidays as have been usual the last two seasons.
- Speaking of SNOW BASH, WE WILL BE THERE! SEE YOU IN OHIO, NY for the return of the grass drags to the Town of Ohio park off Nellis Road Saturday September 18 and Sunday September 19. Myself and wingman Zack Lupia (my 18 year old son and riding partner) will be there. Please say hi! We’d love to see you!
- GUIDE TO YOUR RIDE PODCAST will return at the start of riding season in December until we run out of snow (hopefully APRIL THIS YEAR)… we’ll have our usual suspects from the best NYSSA clubs guiding you through the latest happening with the clubs and trail conditions throughout the season in real time.
- New season for sponsorships of Upstate Snow! Our audience is big and loyal and we’d love to partner with you! There are two big things we are introducing:
MEMBER: Anyone wishes to drop at least a $10 into our one time tip jar will be called a “member” of Upstate Snow Nation! You can PayPal or Venmo. In return here’s what you’ll get:
– Personal thank you video from me to you. And if you want me to shout out to anyone, similar to “cameo” I will. Short video, less than one minute.
– Your name listed as a member at the end of every post on The Morning Blog, Podcast episode, any content posted to the site until August 31 of 2022. If you wish not to have your name published, I will “thank” the member from the town/city or the snowmobile club you are a part of. Just let me know.
SPONSOR: Any business, organization or event that wishes to support Upstate Snow that drops at least $60 into the same online “tip jar” will get the same as I would do for an individual… but also included will be a direct link to the business web page or social media link you prefer. It will become a quick list business directory of faithful Upstate Snow supporters. The content gets read thousands of times a day during the season. You need to be there!
For members and sponsors, all will be listed in order received on a first come basis. So if you want to be high up on the list, click below to set it up now! Links are below and an example of the list, like credits at the end of a show, are below:
PAYPAL LINK – paypal.me/lupiallc
VENMO LINK – www.venmo.com/u/Richard-Lupia
And in case you were wondering, banner ads and podcast/video sponsorships start at $250. Email me for more details if interested. These are more involved and well worth it if you are marketing to snowmobilers and winter weather enthusiasts.
This is going to be a GREAT season! We will make the most of whatever snow we get, as always. Thank you so much for your support of Upstate Snow! Have a good Labor Day Weekend and I’ll see you next week with our first Trail Talk Podcast of the season!
