This Christmas. Will definitely be a White Christmas!
This storm that is approaching, this clipper, is gaining strength. I have had to up the snow amounts a few inches in Central NY, the Tug Hill, the western Adirondacks and for most of the North Country. In these areas instead of 2-5, we are now expecting 3-7 inches of the white stuff. 2-5 for the rest of the state with the exception of the Finger Lakes, parts of the Capital Region and the Hudson Valley. But even here, we should get just enough snow to ensure a White Christmas
AFTER THAT WHITE CHRISTMAS
It starts to slowly warm up. With everyone and their grandmothers being out on the sleds after Christmas and with the snow cover not being the best, even after this snow, expect it to get mowed down to dirt sooner rather than later. I would expect by the weekend and into the last few days before New Years with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees in the afternoon over Upstate NY, even with rain coming over the weekend, that riding will become less and less by the day.
AFTER THE NEW YEAR
It will continue above normal for the first few days of 2025. Then after about January 3-5, the cooling trend back towards normal to below normal becomes much more likely. This means we go from the 40s through the 30s into the 20s during the day. At night it becomes great for grooming. Whatever is out there. With lows in the single digits and teens.
Enjoy the day! Merry Christmas Eve Eve!
