Our storm is over us now. It’s warm and it’s wet! Any leftover snow, with the exception of the highest amounts of snow on the Tug Hill, has been melted away and we are back down to bare ground just about everywhere. What happens between 7 PM tonight and 7 PM tomorrow night is a nice snowfall. This is mostly for areas east of I-81. And also for the higher elevations thereof. The lower you are, the less you will get. The higher you are, the more you will get. Get it? 🙂
7 PM Sunday
Rain from Central NY to Eastern NY and into Western New England. To the west of I-81, changeover starts taking place to snow and quickly. It is in these areas snowfall amounts are low because the changeover is at the end of the event.
1 AM Monday
This is when it’s snow in the higher elevations all the way across Central and Eastern NY, North Country and Adirondacks. Only the lowest elevations may hold on to a mix but not for much longer. Some of this snow will be heavy at times.
7 AM Monday
Snow, heavy at times, hitting most of Upstate NY from near and east of I-81. Snow now also getting into the Albany area and into the lower elevation areas of the Capital region. Travel Monday Morning will be slick to just plain old bad. Prepare for lots of extra time now!
1 PM Monday
Snow begins to taper off in the Binghamton area, Southern Tier and Catskills. Still snowing but not as much Syracuse, Utica/Rome, and Albany/Saratoga and points northward.
7 PM Monday
The snow event is over with the exception of lingering lake effect snow showers off of Lake Erie and off of Lake Ontario.
Here is the REVISED snowfall amounts. You’ll see some changes but not huge changes from yesterday’s map. This is as a result of an additional 24 hours of data and finalizing of what and where things will go.
After this, the bottom line is this snow will probably not stick around. Temperatures for the middle to the end of the week will be at or above normal. So the snow will melt. Again. It’s still early in the season but still it’s a disappointment to say that. As I always say, it is what it is.
