HOLD ON TO YOUR HAT! Winds will pick up tonight and especially tomorrow across most of Upstate NY with the highest threat for high winds in WNY, the Tug Hill and the St Lawrence Valley. High Wind Warnings and Watches have been hoisted. Keep a way to get warnings with the weather scenario unfolding.
While high winds are big story #1, right behind it with big story #2 is the WARMTH. Not today. In fact, there is a brief freezing rain threat across the Adirondacks tonight into tomorrow morning. But Saturday will be a VERY WILD WEATHER DAY with temperatures heading for record territory across the entire state, anywhere from the mid 50s to the mid 60s out ahead of our big storm, tracking well north and west of Upstate NY. This will wipe out most if not all of the snow cover, what modest stuff there is, over the Tug Hill, Adirondacks and locations north of the Thruway.
After the winds and rains sweep through Saturday afternoon and evening, much colder air moves in behind it. There may very well be a brief lake response in back of the storm but with high winds involved, it is unlikely this will become organized and dump several inches of snow.
Since winds on Sunday will not be as bad, and conditions will be better for it, the decision was made in Inlet to move the shootout to Sunday. Heads up if you are heading to Snowdeo this weekend for that change.
It is all downhill from Sunday through next week. Warm conditions for December set it. Few chances for precipitation, and if there is precipitation, it’s going to be RAIN. The bad scenario that has been well advertised will be here. Just hold on and ride it out. That’s all I have for now folks. Wish I had more and some hope, but, no.
