Welcome to the morning blog for 11.03.24 for Upstate NY. Once again, as it has been most of this year, temperatures will remain above normal all week long. It will be near normal today, rising from the 20s to the 50s. There will be some scattered showers tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night. Then things turn warm again. Really warm. In fact, on Election Day on Tuesday, many areas will break 70 degrees and challenge record highs. Late Tuesday and especially into Wednesday, rain showers will move on through the region. This will bring us from the near record warmth (again) back down closer to normal by the end of this week.
This next weekend, as we approach Veteran’s Day, brings us a better threat for showers. But also… for some wintry mix at times. This is especially true Sunday and into Monday of the following week (on Veteran’s Day) and mainly true north of the Thruway and in the higher elevations to the south of the Mohawk Valley and the I-90 corridor. Anything that falls will not last long as the air moving in behind the storm will be just too plain warm. Again, we continue to fight ourselves on this.
Looking ahead to the 14th of November… We could be approaching another shot of record highs again. Why do I put this out so far in advance? Just because more often that not, that has been our weather. That is what has been verifying. We haven’t had below zero days as often, especially the last 5 years. Even below freezing days, even during the wintertime have been harder to come by. That makes riding the sleds on trails that much more difficult. Thankfully we are out of season for snowmobiling. For now. We are just over a month away from getting the North Country and the Adirondacks up and running, assuming the actually have snow. But for the next 6-10 and 8-14 days from today, expect overall conditions to be above normal. At times way above normal. Pray this changes second half of November and as we head especially into December. God I don’t want another record or close to record warm December. I have had enough of those!
That is it for now. Enjoy your week!
