Did you enjoy the last few days we just went through? Did you enjoy the first snow of the year? The first trace in many locations in New York? The first few inches particularly above 1500 to 2000 feet? Are you enjoying the 20s this morning?
Why am I asking you all of these questions? There obviously is a reason to this. It has to do not only with the short term over the next few days, or even the next week, or even the weather all the way to Halloween. Which now on our longest daily models we can finally start to see. On everything I am looking at for the rest of October, I have two clear words for you. Then two that follow it.
Game Over. For Now.
If you are looking for any snow the rest of the month, you are not going to find it here. Even bigger years like 1987 and 2008, you will not find anything like that. Just be thankful we’ve had the few days of early winter we had. Say hello back to a late fall and enjoy the rest of the leaf peeping season. While that part is generally over in the higher elevations, most areas below 1500 feet are at peak over the next 5-10 days before it all falls down. Highs will be at least in the 50s, but most days will be in the 60s and 70s. Above normal for sure.
So what is next? I will keep an eye on the trends as we get closer to the end of the month and forecasts going into November start to get more clearer. Once there is any change to that, I will jump on here and let you know. Two weeks from tomorrow is my first 2024-25 winter weather outlook. You have 15 days. You have been warned.
