Hehehehe WIPEOUT! It’s ugly right now. It’s gonna be VERY ugly this afternoon and this evening. There will be more WIPEOUTS and major issues on the trails before things get better in the next few days. Glub glub… Someone unplug the tub!
Yep. No way out of this one. 1″+ of rain on top of the 2″ of rain last week will do it’s job on the remaining snowpack across Upstate NY. Outside of the Tug Hill, Adirondacks and North Country, we are basically out of base and back to square one across the rest of the state. Sad but true. This is like 2018 all over again. Big wipeout just after President’s Day, then a big March. Oh, did I just give something away?
No, not waiting over a week between 72 F and big snows like we did in 2018, but literally just 48-72 hours. After the WIPEOUT is completed tonight into Wednesday, gradual cooldown begins. Everyone is back below freezing by Thursday morning. Thursday is a cold day, nothing unusual. Until overnight Thursday into Friday morning. That’s when things get FUN…
The trend is still for this storm, a cutter, to track almost perfectly, and nail Upstate NY with a decent snowfall. 4-8, 5-10, 6-10 type stuff for most areas is what it continues to look like based on previous experience. However, this is NOT my official forecast. Yet. That, comes TOMORROW, after we get through with our beating. It remains cold with increased chances for clippers, lake effect and snow chances going all throughout next week. It looks like March will start off right. At this point, PRAY the storm Friday does enough to open up some trails this weekend, the water issues are not as bad as they could be, everything re-freezes down nicely, and we can get back to riding, at least in some areas, next week. It’s not the best outlook, but at least, there is hope for an encore to winter after the Surfari’s come sweeping through town.
