Hello! It is great to be back in the seat this morning doing what I do: REPORT ON SNOWMOBILING IN UPSTATE NEW YORK!
The lake effect hit the traditional areas hard but not a lot outside of those areas. We have some snow here within the next week. A ton? No. Not the 75 inches in 5 days seen in populated areas of Oneida County earlier this month. Are we going to see at least a few inches here and there? YES! Temperatures should remain near to below normal for the next 1-2 weeks as well. So if you are worried about a thaw coming, that’s not in the cards. At least not yet.
Snow showers continue overnight tonight and into early tomorrow morning across parts of Upstate NY. Light snows should add a dusting. Maybe an inch or two at most.
Saturday later in the afternoon and heading into the evening, more light snows should move on through too. Same deal here. A dusting to an inch or two.
Heading into Sunday, yet more light snows will be around, however there is a better chance at some sunshine, especially out of the lake effect snow areas.
The lower elevation locations should be around of not just a little above freezing. Briefly. Snow comes crashing through later Tuesday with a few inches likely followed by some lake effect snows middle to end of next week. It is a little beyond my range to put numbers on this yet, but I would say a few inches with several locally in the Tug Hill and south of Buffalo.
And as I mentioned earlier, the 6-10 day continues to show below normal temperatures across the Northeast including Upstate NY. The 8-14 day temperatures return to near normal. But remember normal this time of year is at of below freezing pretty much across all of Upstate New York. So no big thaws are anticipated. Or if they happen to come about, they will be brief in nature and not long winded.
So now that we have gone through the all time record Deep South Snowstorm of 2025, let’s take a look at the once in a lifetime event in places that have never seen this kind of snow. And if not for 50-60 years, then EVER!
Well on THAT NOTE, we should probably get out of here. And let the UPSTATE NEW YORK SNOWFALL take over once again as the best snowmobile readings in the nation! At least THIS TIME!
