If you want to ride anytime in the next few weeks, you have a few days to enjoy it. You will not have the weekend. We had a nice hit of snow the last few days across the Tug Hill and Adirondacks, which has healed riding conditions there.
Our next clipper system drops in tonight through tomorrow with general light snows and lake enhanced snows during the day tomorrow turning into true lake effect snows by afternoon/evening. Once again the Tug Hill proper looks to be the biggest winner in this contest. Temperatures will also turn colder into Wednesday Night into Thursday morning, which will give clubs and groomers time to set up what should be an awesome day of riding on Thursday in Old Forge/Inlet, the western Adirondacks and the Tug Hill Region.
After that it’s all downhill from there and not in a good way.
Friday is not good as the warmth and rain showers come flooding in. Saturday is even worse.
Next week the jet stream pattern says winter everywhere across North America… except here. Most of Canada – Frigid. Most of the northern US west of the Great Lakes – Frigid. Here? Torched 🙁 Notice on my markup EVERYTHING is in the wrong place. No Newfoundland Low. No Greenland Block. No Western Ridge. Polar vortex nowhere near Hudson Bay.
There really isn’t much more to say about this. Yes there may be periods next week and the week after where we may get some cold and snow for a day or two. If so, it won’t be earth shattering in this pattern. And more often than not in this pattern, above freezing by day, maybe even at night too.
You have been warned yet again, ride now or sit the bench until after MLK Weekend at the very earliest. Based on how much rebuilding will be needed, I think last week of January at the earliest now, possibly first week of February.
Even if it is February 1 when we get back to where we should be, that still leaves 60 days, two months, of a season. Yes it sucked to lose the holidays and now the majority of January, but the game is not over yet. We may be approaching halftime of the season getting our tails kicked in like the Houston Texans last Saturday.
Just ask the Buffalo Bills how that turned out. And on a football note, yes it was heartbreaking and my voice still isn’t back 🙁
