Good morning! After two weeks I am back, ready for more punishment, because, why else would I be here? It’s late March and with the exception of minor snowfalls downwind of the Great Lakes, and about 4-8 inches worth up on the Tug Hill and in the Adirondacks, the rest of Upstate NY is bare and already well on it’s way into spring mode! Don’t believe me? Try near 40 Sunday. Near 50 Monday. Near 55 Tuesday. 50s the rest of next week. So whatever ends up falling, hear this: YOU HAVE A VERY SHORT WINDOW TO PLAY WITH THIS ON:
Increasing clouds as you are reading this today. If you are reading this during the afternoon Friday, snow will be developing, depending on where you are. If you are reading this Friday evening, snows will become steady to heavy, especially north of the Thruway between Syracuse and Albany. Overnight: HEAVY SNOW in the Adirondacks and Tug Hill. Moderate snows elsewhere along and north of the Thruway outside of the Tug Hill and Adirondacks. Saturday Morning, Snow, sleet and freezing rain takes over in the lower elevations, changing to rain in areas south of I-90. The farther south you go, especially outside of the Catskills, the better shot you have of rain and lower elevation snows. By Saturday afternoon it’s tapering off. By Saturday Night: It’s a memory.
Sunday will be by far the best day to ride whatever is out there. Monday there will still be some left but the melting will be well on it’s way. With temperatures well into the mid 50’s on Tuesday, about 10 degrees above normal, quick melting will be happening and what’s left of this will be going bye bye. Fast. Wednesday and Thursday in the 40’s to near 50 won’t help much either.
Will it all be gone by Easter Weekend? Rideable snows, yes, expect it to be gone by then.
So do I laugh at this post? If you want. Do I subject the 27 year Meteorologist to a whole bunch of March Madness??? Go for it! Have at it! Please, if you will, BE MY GUEST! All I know is all this early season rains and late season snows are driving me ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!
Know that every single THANK YOU you send to me will be greatly appreciated!
