TODAY IS YOUR DAY TO GET OUT AND CLEAR THE SNOW OFF. SERIOUSLY. TAKE THE DAY. ESPECIALLY WHERE THE LAKE EFFECT LEFT ANOTHER SEVERAL FEET OF SNOW. ROOFS ARE CAVING IN EVERYWHERE. SEVERAL PEOPLE I KNOW HAVE HAD ROOFS CAVE IN OVER THE LAST DAY BECAUSE OF THE INCREDIBLE SNOWS. DO WHATEVER YOU CAN TO CLEAR THE SNOW!
Otherwise enjoy the partly sunny and cold day! Temperatures today will be in the teens to near 20 with whatever sunshine mother nature will bring. With all the deep snow in Central NY, the North Country, Tug Hill, and the Adirondacks, these areas are heading for below zero tonight. Like -5 to -15. That’s not quite record territory for temperatures, but it’s not too far off of it. BUNDLE UP! And then there is Thursday:
Next weak system comes on through with generally light snows. It should be just enough to cover the ground. Some spots may actually score another 1 to 2 inches depending on where the best snows fall. So tomorrow’s snowfall map is a general one with a general amount. GO WITH THE GENERAL!
On Friday things will dry out. Little to no lake effect snow will be behind that weak system tomorrow. If anything we will range from mostly cloudy to partly sunny.
Then it’s several days of clouds mixed with some sun. If anything, partly sunny! Temperatures creep up to near freezing over the weekend, and with the exception of the higher elevations early next week, ABOVE FREEZING! On Monday then next weak system moves in with a combination of rain or snow as temperatures, especially in the lower elevations, will be above freezing.
We are approaching maple syrup season. We are in the “BACK 9” of winter. Our snowfall has been the best it has been in several years. If we get just our normal snowfall the rest of the winter, it will be the most snow Utica/Rome has seen in over 20 years! That would be amazing.
