Hey there! I am sorry to be well behind, but we got our first snowfall in 3 years here in South Carolina!
It is amazing to see it snowing here. Right now. Although it looks like sleet is mixing in already and accumulations are low. We are not even to 1″ yet. Meanwhile many spots just south and west of us from Lake Hartwell, into Georgia, especially towards the Atlanta area, got 4″ of snow! That’s the most since Snowmagedon, which I believe was around 15 years ago. Before that was the Blizzard of 1993.
Light snows will make it from the Southeast US all the way up to Upstate NY tonight and into tomorrow morning. With the exception of an extra few inches just downwind of the lakes, most locations tonight and tomorrow should see anywhere from a dusting to 2″ of snow. While that amount down here from Atlanta to Greenville to Charlotte will automatically cancel everything for at least a few days, up there, it is literally. Just. Another. January. Day.
After some sunshine on Sunday and Monday (not full sun but at least some) with normal temperatures, then things change heading into Tuesday. That’s the day things change. Our next cold front comes down from the north and west, a clipper type system. Snow showers with some lake effect are expected Tuesday through Tuesday Night before the winds shift and it mainly ends on Wednesday. Well with the exception of lingering lake effect. Which this year I definitely would not pass up on that chance.
Thursday will be the next weak system with snow showers and more lake effect snow. The lake effect won’t be major but there will be some around, no doubt. Temperatures will be back below normal again. Instead of 30 for a high like Sunday and Monday, by Thursday we may not get out of the teens. Lows will generally be 10 degrees either side of zero.
There is more stuff expected after this on MLK Day Weekend and into the following week. There have been changes to that in the last few days. I won’t comment on it, at least not yet. At least get it within a week. And by the way: GO OUT AND SUPPORT CHRIS SCHOFF AND THEIR RIDE IN ROME, NY TOMORROW! Thank you!
