The good news. The bad news. We have it all for you here. Some of this is great. Some, well, sucks!
First the best news of all, our snow potential over the next 48 hours. Savor this enjoy this. More on that in a minute…
Snow showers with heavier lake effect squalls will continue on and off throughout the next 48 hours. Sometimes not that much will be coming down, like during the daytime. Sometimes a lot more will be coming down, like during the nighttime tonight and tomorrow night. By the time we reach Sunday morning, the snow is out of here. For a few days. And for a few days it turns nasty!
EARLY NEXT WEEK
This is the bad part of the forecast. This is the one you don’t want to know about, but unfortunately is coming. And it is coming hard. Snow showers change to rain showers on Sunday afternoon. Sunday night if it gets below freezing, it will be just barely. Monday and Tuesday are the worst days. This is when a deep southwesterly flow develops and spreads rain all throughout Upstate NY. Even in the higher elevations you won’t be able to get away from it. This is totally not good seeing as how the North Country and Adirondacks officially open Sunday Night at dusk, conditions permitting. The first 60 hours of this will be ugly. How much rain? Still remains to be seen. I am hoping by tomorrow or Sunday to give you an idea.
MID NEXT WEEK
This is when the rain changes back to snow on Wednesday. How much snow? No idea. Could be a trace to an inch. Could be several inches. Who knows? The only thing I know is that for the second half of next week, cold arctic air returns! It will be snow weather yet again. But will it snow? After the initial rain to snow on Wednesday, probably not. That will be a big bummer!
8-14 DAY AND BEYOND
There is another storm, this one minor and not major, that is expected to cross over our neck of the woods between the 17th and the 19th of December. Other than that, it is a pattern shift to more sunshine and less storminess. That is both good and bad. Good for hanging on to whatever snow we would have left. Bad for adding to whatever snow we do have. So for SNOWDEO it all comes down to what we get early next week and any additional snow we get next Wednesday.
That is how it is looking right now. Thanks for your patience with our reports!
