Good morning! There are not one, not two, but three systems to keep in mind while going about your plans over the next 8 days. These systems are not in any way major. This is not Western NY 2014 or 2022 here. Just letting you know that there are systems going by, each with an opportunity for light snow accumulations.
#1 – Saturday overnight through Sunday: After today’s sunshine and 30s to low 40s, it drops quickly to at or below freezing overnight and into Sunday morning. This system will produce a quick burst of light snow. In a few areas north of the Thruway, particularly over the Tug Hill and the Adirondacks, that quick burst of snow may be just enough to accumulate just a little. Trust me, I know we are already starting to get behind on 2023-24 snowfalls at this time. I know that. With forecasted snow amounts even in the higher elevations so low, I am thinking I will skip tomorrow’s snowfall accumulation map. Let the dusting to an inch fall and melt just as fast.
On Tuesday we cloud up quick. Snow gets going, especially from the Syracuse area and points north and east by Tuesday Evening. That could definitely be accumulating snows on Tuesday Night, but by Wednesday Morning look what it has changed over to? Yep. It’s rain! And it is lightening up very quickly Wednesday morning with some sun expected Wednesday Afternoon with temps surging to 40 or better. That’s before the cold front sweeps through and turns Thanksgiving COLD. Like snow shower cold like everywhere with highs near freezing across most of Upstate NY, a little above down low, a little below up high.
Next shot of snow after Thanksgiving comes at the end of the holiday weekend. Late Sunday our next storm rolls in from the Ohio Valley with rain and snow showers. Because of the colder air, and the fact it’s Sunday Night, it should be mainly snow across all of Upstate NY. Looking at this map I would like to put an accumulation on it but if I am not going to put it on beyond Day 3, Day 9-10 are LOL. The bottom line is this: We have 3 storm systems, perhaps 4 more, between now and the end of November which is 12 days away. Keep rooting for whatever snow we can get. Even if we get 1-2 inches an it melts a few times, that snow adds up. We stay near to above normal by December 1, the outlook for the rest of the winter looks much much better.
