OK OK after all these folks put out their winter weather outlooks, I figured it was time to do my own! Please enjoy! HAHA!
OK, seriously… this is a joking outlook. It’s August. There is NO scientific basis to predict with any accuracy what’s ahead 180+ days from now. The accuracy is very limited going 60-120 days out, which we do December 1, and we won’t catch warm spells or cold spells in that, just the trend. We’re not that good! If we were that good, I’d retire! But instead I’m here forecasting away, writing articles and pushing merchandise. It’s mid summer. It’s #summersucks season. It’s going to be weeks before we see positive signs towards winter.
But seasons change, we all get excited in the fall, go crazy over the first flakes of snow in Upstate NY in October or November… then get even crazier when the bigger storms hit after Thanksgiving. It’s just the ebb and flow. You can’t ride up north until December anyway. With the extended hunting seasons in the southern zones, you can’t ride until after New Years! We could have 60-80 inches by then (it has happened). We could have 10 inches by then (it has happened too), but one thing is for sure it’s this: The trend for shorter winters in NY. It has been a trend since I started Upstate Snow in 2012. We did have a few good winters. 2012-13 wasn’t bad. 2014-15 started slow then was historically epic! 2016-17, 2017-18 and 2018-19 I would characterize as OK winters. The last three since 2019… duds. Short 4-6 weeks to ride and that’s it. Not like the 10-15 weeks we got out of winters previously. Our time is due. Do we turn the corner this year?
These questions we will answer in the coming weeks and months. I’ll be here with it. In the meantime, I have some stuff I’d like you to do. We have some brand new Upstate Snow Stickers! These are awesome I have them now! These are 4 X 4 inch water proof stickers that go anywhere! On your vehicle, your trailer, your sled, in the bar on the trail, anywhere you’d like them to go! And here at Upstate Snow for 10 years, we always ROOT FOR SNOW! We won’t go crazy over it and put out blatantly false info, but we will always track, analyze and change the forecasts to get them as accurate as possible. Your support helps us keep this train going. The stickers are $4 a piece and THAT INCLUDES SHIPPING! Grab a bunch now at https://www.richlupia.com/product/upstate-snow-sticker/
Also we are introducing our brand new UPSTATE SNOW T-SHIRT! This is a 98/2 cotton Fruit of the Loom T-Shirt that came out just perfect. It’s lightweight and awesome to wear, even down south in the summertime! That’s how you know we got a good shirt. You can order up all the shirts you want from us at https://www.richlupia.com/product/upstate-snow-t-shirt/ and we’ll ship them off to you! These shirts are $25 WITH SHIPPING INCLUDED! We calculated the shipping cost and it comes out to basically $19.75 per shirt, a great deal! Since it’s a short sleeve shirt, we tell people that it’s “Not my favorite season” because here, we love winter. We say LET IT SNOW!
There is more stuff for you to check out in the Rich Lupia store, and there will be more stuff added soon! Check it out here at https://www.richlupia.com/shop/
Finally, for those wondering what I’m doing year round, I am getting into teaching. I am teaching Earth Science and Biology for a local homeschool co-op this fall outside Greenville, South Carolina and I’m so excited! One of the things I’m particularly excited about is I got permission to teach MY OWN CURRICULUM! That is the Wonder of Weather for Kids! and the Wonder of Weather! These programs are on special for a limited time with LIFETIME ACCESS for just $29! This price will go up literally in a few days and it will convert to an annual subscription. New lessons will be uploaded when done. It will be 13 lessons with over 6-8 hours of total material. The Wonder of Weather for Kids! is for ages 6-11, for kids in elementary school with a more simpler explanation about the weather. OK, that’s it for now. Have an awesome weekend! And I’m sorry about all the humidity and the dog days of August hanging around.

Rich
