No changes to the forecast snowfall amounts today with the clipper/cold front coming on through. It will add to what we have out there. Temps may spike briefly, maybe above 40 in some areas, but it’s only a few hours. No need to worry about it for now.
Tomorrow afternoon and evening the next clipper/cold front comes on through. It looks fairly similar with snowfall amounts we’re getting today. It lasts through Wednesday night then tapers off Thursday as much colder and drier air moves in. The rest of Thursday, Friday and honestly most of the day on Saturday looks good with cold temperatures. Saturday afternoon the mercury sneaks above freezing then goes for a jailbreak heading into Sunday… as SPRINGTIME which will have resided over much of the nation between today and Saturday, makes its push and finally arrives in Upstate NY.
Temps continue to rise Saturday night and by Sunday it’s RAIN. Not even close on the P-type here. It’s a full shot warmup as the strong low swirls over the Great Lakes to our north and west. Even the Tug, Adirondacks and North Country will be hit good by Sunday. If you have any riding plans between now and Saturday GET THEM IN. All bets are off after Sunday. Now on Monday into Tuesday it looks like a secondary storm may follow, dive south and east and provide a return to SNOW. We shall see. It’s day 7-8 material at the moment.
But one thing is for sure on Sunday… ANY places still riding outside of the Tug Hill, Adirondacks and North Country will be WIPED OUT by the warmth on Sunday. These high temperatures are “normal” for end of April/beginning of MAY. With the thin snowcover and every inch of snow being hard fought, this will likely be the death blow for most clubs outside of the heartiest areas. I’m blowing the whistle now. Get your last rides in by Saturday, otherwise, it will likely be “die hard” riding on the seasonal roads of the Tug, snaking around the snow bowls of the Adirondacks and North Country afterwards. I expect the end of the Tug Hill/Adirondack connection for the season. You have until Saturday.
