Lake effect will end this afternoon across all of Upstate NY with little additional accumulation. Cold temperatures for sure this afternoon and especially tonight falling into the teens and 20s across Upstate NY.
Wednesday for the biggest travel day of the year looks sunny and bright not just in Upstate NY but all the way down the coast to Florida and all the way westbound into the Ohio Valley. If your plans for travel this afternoon, tonight and/or tomorrow are road trip plans, even several hundred miles from Upstate NY… it’s THUMBS UP BABY!!! A 1032 monster high over the mountains of West Virginia will do that.
For Thanksgiving Day, it looks perfect for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, nice across most of the east coast, rain begins moving in from west to east during the day, reaching Upstate NY late day and Night. By later afternoon and into the evening hours, rainfall over the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes will move quickly to the east. By Thanksgiving night, it’s all rain across all of Upstate NY. And then…
FRIDAY FRIDAY! This is where it gets to be FUN. Strengthening low pressure center just to the north… tight pressure gradient and low level moisture is much better behind this system plus plenty of cold air = FRIDAY AND SATURDAY SNOW! Below is the GFS model on total snowfall from 60-108 hours. This is just one model run, but you get the point. A good shot at accumulating snows for a good portion of Upstate NY, including outside the traditional lake effect bands of snow. Stay tuned. My official “snowfall map” for this is coming tomorrow morning.
