Well that was fun while it lasted…
Expect MUCH warmer conditions and an end to the SNOW threat over the next several days across Upstate NY. Whatever fell on the state, in all areas, will melt off before the next snows have a chance to move in.
While the Southeastern US gets dealt a MAJOR NOR’EASTER this weekend, resulting in the worst beach weekend, especially early season, in YEARS for the Carolinas, the rest of the Northeast and Upstate NY gets to dry out and warm up. While November is the cloudiest month of the year, by far, November 2021, with the sunshine in the forecast over the next several days, will end up with ABOVE NORMAL SUNSHINE. Even if another 30 days of straight clouds sets in, statistically with all the sun the next several days, it would not matter.
So when is the next snow of the season going to land? We are in 7-10 day range mode for now. A huge November gale is forecasted by the Euro to develop on Veterans Day into next Friday the 12th across the western Great Lakes and upper Mississippi Valley. Snow looks to be way back towards Minnesota and the Dakotas at this time. A secondary wave forms along the front on the 12th and wreaks havoc from the Southeast to the Northeast next weekend the 13th and 14th… but we will be on the warm side of things.
It indeed looks like the second half of November is what we are playing for now. Not quite at the point of panic yet, not until after Thanksgiving going into December. That’s when we need the snows to start building up across the Tug Hill, Adirondacks and North Country to get the season started off right and on time. Plenty of time to watch and plenty of time for things to change, especially beyond 7-10 days.
