Welcome to the doldrums. The snow is basically shut off for the next 7 days, based on what we are seeing right now. Temperatures as previously advertised will be above normal… not super warm but above freezing most days.
There will be more snow in the mountains of Tennessee, Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia between now and the weekend than in Upstate NY. It’s just that kind of winter so far.
I keep looking at the long run and all I am seeing in all the models is above normal temps. Check out the 850s across the US and the southern half of Canada especially. WARM WARM WARM for January. That’s not going to get us lake effect snow and conditions for freezing down trails…
As you see late in this latest GFS run some cold air may make a run at us by MLK weekend but folks that’s almost 2 weeks away. I’m not buying it. I’m not going to sit here and get you excited for something until I have high confidence. And I’m just saying right now, I’m not seeing it. Hope that I am wrong. And that’s why Morning Blogs will be limited and every couple of days instead of everyday, until things get interesting again.
Go Bills! Hey at least we have that on Saturday to look forward to. And if you remember back to the late 80s and early 90s when the Bills made their runs, most of them were mild winters with below normal snow. Just an astute observation and nothing more.
Have a great week! Rich
