Good evening!
Quiet weather on the whole through the coming work week. A cold front will drop down from the north tonight, and this will bring some light snows mainly to the North Country… but some snow showers are possible across central NY as well early tomorrow morning. Outside of that, we’re high-and-dry through most of the week.
Temperatures will return to below seasonal norms tomorrow and Tuesday. We’ll have highs tomorrow ranging from the mid and upper 20s in the Adirondacks to the mid 30s across the western Fingerlakes… with lower 40s from Albany southward. Tuesday will actually be colder across central and eastern New York… lower to middle 30s will be the rule for the Susquehanna Region and central Southern Tier, with temps a tick or two either side of 40 from Albany down the Hudson Valley. Upper 30s to around 40 for the lake plains and Fingerlakes region, and highs around 30 in the Adirondacks and on the Tug Hill.
By Wednesday our temps return to … well, where they should be for the end of March — widespread 40s across the entire state, with temps into the mid 50s west of a line from Rochester to Wellsville. Temps really take off Thursday, Friday, and Saturday… widespread 50s and 60s will be the rule.
Our next weather system will impact our area by the end of the work week. A frontal boundary will become sprawled out from west to east across the state Thursday night and Friday. While there is the slim chance for some rain on Thursday, it looks like we’ll have a better shot at showers in here on Friday. Low pressure will organize on this front over the mid-Mississippi Valley and ride northeastward. Where the front ends up is key, as it will provide the highway for this low. If the front sinks a little farther south and east, we could be looking at some wet snow to end the month. Alternatively, if the front stays just north/west, a soaking rain is in order. No matter what happens, as the low spins off to the east, it will work to drag in some colder air behind it… and April could be greeted by some accumulating wet snow…. no foolin’! (It’s still waaaay too early to make that kind of call though.)
Have a good evening and a better day tomorrow. Thanks, as always, for your continued support.
